On Friday, October 12th, more than 90 golfers took to the course at River Island Country Club and spent the day golfing FORE Habitat! The support raised more than $23,000 for Habitat’s next project at 87 S. “G” Street in Porterville.
The City of Porterville recently awarded Habitat for Humanity a land donation in the Olive Street School District and the two have been working together on plans and permits to start the project. The plans for the house were developed by Ivan Lione, an intern from Harmony Magnet Academy, working with Dennis Townsend, of Townsend Architecture Group. Members of the “Building Hope in Porterville” committee have been raising funds for the fourth home build since 2016, increasing the attendance at the golf tournament each year.
With support from Bank of America, Eagle Mountain Casino, Pacific Western Bank, Myers Funeral Service, Bank of the Sierra, Suncrest Bank, Walmart DC and many more, the project is almost fully funded.
