Habitat is Building in Kings County

On June 11th more than 20 community supporters joined Habitat staff, board members, and homeowners at 403 W Cameron Street in Hanford to “Break Ground” on the 5th Habitat home in Kings County. The homeowner family, Victor Grey and Danielle Solorio are getting ready to join the Habitat team to raise the walls.

The first Habitat house in the county was build in Hanford in 2007. At that time, more than 10 congregations and a team of incredible community members joined together to make a commitment to building homes, communities, and hope. That first house led to three more first-time homeowners as well as dozens of home repair projects to help those challenged by age, disability, and circumstance.

In 2016, Habitat’s service area was officially expanded to include Kings County and we became Habitat for Humanity of Tulare/Kings Counties. We have big plans to work with the community to provide decent and affordable housing opportunities to families and neighbors in Hanford, Lemoore, Corcoran, and surrounding areas.

Both the Summer and Winter Women Build went very well as more than 40 volunteers helped raise the walls on the Cameron project. The project is on track for completion in late January. There is still some fundraising needed so please donate to this project today!
